Meta plans to launch two new models of Ray-Ban smart glasses designed specifically for prescription eyewear wearers next week. These products mark the first collaboration between Meta and EssilorLuxottica aimed at this demographic. The two new models have already received certification from the U.S. FCC and will be available in rectangular and round frame styles. They are expected to be sold through traditional prescription eyewear sales channels. Meta views AI smart glasses as a crucial component of its overall AI strategy, having already released related products in the past. Its CEO has also hinted at expanding the user base to include prescription eyewear wearers. Currently, Meta has achieved initial success in the smart glasses sector, while other tech companies like Apple are catching up. Apple plans to ship its first pair of glasses as early as next year, but the product will not feature a display or AR capabilities.
