Tencent has recently shuttered TiMi Montreal Studio, a subsidiary that was set up a mere five years ago. As a member of the TiMi Studio Group, TiMi Montreal Studio hadn't launched any games since its establishment, despite having ambitious plans to develop a "AAA open-world, multi-platform game." The studio mainly focused on internal projects and had been involved in the creation of games like 'Pokémon UNITE' and 'Call of Duty: Mobile'. Notably, the studio once recruited Ashraf Ismail, a former creative director at Ubisoft, who joined TiMi after departing from Ubisoft in 2020 amid allegations of misconduct. Earlier reports had hinted at the studio's impending closure, a claim that was eventually substantiated by a post from a senior game programmer. Another team member remarked on the exceptional talent within the team and the positive work environment, making the experience there truly memorable. As of the current reporting time, neither TiMi nor Tencent has released an official statement regarding the closure.
