Ren Yuzhi, the Director of the Planning Department at the National Energy Administration, emphasized that technological innovation serves as a robust driving force behind the development of new, high-quality productive forces. On the global stage, major nations are intensifying their strategic deployments in energy technology, ramping up efforts in the research, development, and deployment of cutting-edge technologies. Among these, artificial intelligence stands out as a frontrunner poised to spearhead the energy transformation. Within China, energy technology is generally on par with—and in some cases, surpasses—international benchmarks, particularly in advanced areas like new energy. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including a lack of original innovation, gaps in key core technologies and equipment, and the necessity to bolster collaborative innovation among industry, academia, research institutions, and practical applications.
