Towards the close of 2024, Xiang Shaoqing, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Hesai Technology—a prominent LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) solutions provider—teamed up with CEO Li Yifan and Chief Scientist Sun Kai to establish Sharpa, a robotics enterprise dedicated to advancing general-purpose robots and their essential components. In their capacities as co-founders of Sharpa, this trio is entrusted with the responsibility of steering strategic direction and planning, yet they do not engage in day-to-day operational management. Sharpa functions as an autonomous entity, maintaining no equity ties or business control connections with Hesai Technology. The bulk of Sharpa's core team members are sourced externally, and at present, the company boasts a workforce exceeding 100 personnel.
