Recently, a public dispute has flared up between Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and Michael O'Leary, the Chief Executive Officer of Ryanair, regarding in-flight internet services. As numerous European airlines are speeding up the integration of Starlink services, Ryanair has notably declined to follow suit. O'Leary expressed that passengers are reluctant to pay for WiFi on short-haul flights. Moreover, he emphasized that a full-scale deployment would escalate the company's annual expenses by $200 million to $250 million, a financial burden deemed untenable.

Musk countered by asserting that Ryanair's refusal to adopt Starlink would lead to a loss of customers. In a sarcastic twist, O'Leary labeled Musk an 'idiot,' a remark that prompted Musk to retaliate by calling O'Leary a 'big idiot' and urging the Ryanair board to dismiss him.

Ryanair remains steadfast in its approach of eliminating non-essential services to maintain low ticket prices. In contrast, Musk is fervently advocating for the commercialization of Starlink in the aviation industry, with several dozen airlines already having signed agreements.
