The international standard titled "Generic Root Mean Square (RMS) Simulation Model for Converter-Based Generation Units in Power System Dynamic Analysis," which has been primarily steered by China, has now been officially released. This achievement signifies China's pioneering role in leading an international standard within the realm of modeling technology for new energy power generation.
Relying on efficient and precise mathematical models, "dynamic simulation" plays a pivotal role. For the first time, this standard introduces a standardized, universal simulation model tailored for new energy power generation systems. Its scope of application encompasses transmission system operators, distribution system operators, manufacturers of power generation equipment, developers of power system software, and beyond. It is poised to offer a robust technical underpinning for the extensive expansion of new energy and for the safety evaluations of power grids. The development of this standard spanned four years, marked by a collaborative effort among Chinese experts and their counterparts from 13 countries.
