In the face of escalating competition from e-commerce giants like Shein and Temu, Amazon has unveiled a significant reduction in fees for its European sellers, with a notable emphasis on slashing costs for vendors dealing in budget-friendly apparel. The company emphasized that this move represents one of its most substantial fee cuts in history.
Specifically, commencing February 1, 2025, the minimum sales commission for special oversized items sold on European Amazon platforms will drop from £25/€25 to £20/€20. Additionally, average delivery charges for packaged and oversized goods across the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain will see a reduction. Logistics and delivery fees for all products listed on Dutch, Swedish, and Belgian sites will undergo a comprehensive reassessment to ensure they accurately reflect actual operational costs.
In a bid to streamline processes, Amazon will also simplify the size categorization for oversized items, condensing it from 28 categories down to 17. A new pricing model will be introduced, featuring a base rate coupled with a fixed rate that escalates incrementally per kilogram. Furthermore, Amazon is set to revise fees such as monthly storage charges and storage utilization surcharges to better mirror its operational expenditures.
