Michelle Bowman, the Federal Reserve's Vice Chair for Supervision of banking, will tell House lawmakers on Tuesday that she is pushing for new supervisory rules governing banks' dealings with stablecoins, aiming to ensure a level playing field among Wall Street, fintech firms, and cryptocurrency companies. This move aligns with the framework of the U.S. STABLE Act, which mandates stablecoin issuers to register and maintain a 1:1 reserve in U.S. dollars, while granting the Federal Reserve supervisory responsibilities over banks issuing stablecoins.
