On the morning of November 17th, Chongqing played host to the Work Promotion Meeting for the Central-Local Joint Construction of the Regional Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Chengdu-Chongqing Region. During the meeting, Yin Hejun, the Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, emphasized that the Ministry is set to bolster cooperation and coordination, not only between central and local governments but also across various departments. It will fully harness the leading roles of Sichuan and Chongqing, ramp up support for concerted efforts within the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and drive the profound integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation. The Ministry is committed to making significant strides in key core technologies, fortifying strategic scientific and technological prowess, and elevating original innovation capabilities. Concurrently, it will orchestrate efforts to propel integrated reforms encompassing education, science and technology, and talent, establish a holistic innovation system and mechanisms, cultivate an open and innovative climate, and forge an innovation ecosystem with global competitiveness. Additionally, the Ministry will devise and refine working mechanisms to aid Chengdu and Chongqing in evolving into science and technology innovation hubs of national repute, spurring high-caliber development in the neighboring regions, and contributing to the construction of a global science and technology powerhouse.
