Citing unnamed officials, the British 'Financial Times' reports that Alphabet's Google is poised to undergo a new competition investigation by the EU. This scrutiny stems from Google's approach to ranking news media organizations in its search results. The European Commission is set to delve into whether Google is suspected of manipulating search rankings to disadvantage news publishers that feature paid promotional content. This probe will be carried out under the framework of the Digital Markets Act. At present, Google is already embroiled in numerous antitrust investigations globally, concerning allegations of abusing its dominant position in search, advertising, and the mobile ecosystem. Google has refrained from making any comments on this issue thus far.
