On October 29, 2025, Intel and BOE made a joint announcement regarding their collaborative development of an energy - saving solution for laptop displays, which is grounded in AI technology. This innovative solution leverages 1Hz ultra - low refresh rate technology. When the display is showing static content, like when users are reading text, it can intelligently switch to a 1Hz refresh rate. By incorporating multi - frequency display and SmartPower HDR technology, this solution effectively cuts down on the power consumption of the display. As a result, it significantly extends the battery life of laptops. It is anticipated that by 2026, this technology will be applied in OEM products that utilize Intel platforms.
