On October 25, The Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. President Trump had initially intended to dispatch troops to San Francisco. However, following persuasive efforts from San Francisco Mayor London Breed and the CEOs of prominent tech firms in the Bay Area, he ultimately chose not to deploy federal forces as "reinforcements" for law enforcement. During these persuasive endeavors, tech luminaries like Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA; Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce; and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, played pivotal roles. They engaged in numerous phone calls and text exchanges with Trump and his administration officials, successfully convincing him to abandon the plan. Trump publicly announced his decision to forgo the troop deployment on Thursday.
