Recently, rumors have surfaced indicating that ABB, a titan in the industrial automation industry, made an attempt to acquire French electrical equipment giant Legrand, with an estimated valuation hovering around $44 billion. Nevertheless, this proposed takeover faced staunch opposition from the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance on two separate occasions. Moreover, it was met with unanimous rejection from the members of Legrand's board of directors. Consequently, ABB Group was ultimately compelled to abandon its acquisition ambitions. When approached for comment, ABB Group opted to remain tight-lipped, stating simply that it had no comment to offer.
