Recently, some netizens took to social media to share that Meituan food delivery riders now have the ability to block certain customers. This claim was corroborated by a rider who confirmed receiving a notification about this new feature. According to the relevant page, in an effort to protect the rights and interests of its riders, Meituan has initiated a pilot program and rolled out functions enabling riders to evaluate and block users in seven cities, such as Jinjiang in Fujian Province and Shaoxing in Zhejiang Province.

Riders are given a 48-hour window after an order's completion to evaluate users, with the option to remain anonymous. In instances where riders face customer abuse, intimidation, or threats, they have the choice to swiftly block the customer by selecting the "no longer delivering food to this customer" option or they can block users through a review process in the rider App. Riders can block up to two users at a time. Once blocked, riders will not receive any order requests from these users for the next 365 days. Meituan customer service clarified that this is a newly introduced function, already launched in multiple cities, with plans for further expansion in the near future.
