Ningde Times announced that while sodium-ion batteries boast a slightly lower energy density compared to lithium-ion counterparts, they excel in low-temperature performance, boast a smaller carbon footprint, and offer enhanced safety. These advantages enable sodium-ion batteries to penetrate markets in extremely frigid regions. With an energy density of 175Wh/kg and a pure electric driving range surpassing 500 kilometers, sodium-ion batteries can meet over 40% of the domestic passenger car market demand. These battery packs exhibit high compatibility, being suitable for both standard packs and battery-swap packs tailored to vehicle manufacturers' customer models. Currently, the development of sodium-ion batteries for new passenger cars is advancing smoothly in collaboration with customers. Mass production and supply are slated to commence next year, in line with the customers' timelines.
