Recently, Microsoft has initiated testing of a novel feature within the Windows 11 preview builds (available on both the Dev and Beta channels). Specifically, when a user's Microsoft 365 subscription nears its expiration date or encounters a payment failure, the system will prompt the user to renew their subscription via a full-screen SCOOBE (Second Run Out-of-Box Experience) interface that appears upon system startup. Users can seamlessly update their payment information with just a few clicks, thereby preventing any disruptions to their services. Historically, SCOOBE was primarily utilized for configuring OneDrive and providing other initial setup guidance following the first system boot. Now, this subscription reminder functionality has been integrated. Microsoft has clarified that this feature is presently exclusive to preview users, and a decision regarding its inclusion in the official release has not yet been made, with potential refinements to the feature's specifics still under consideration. Users who prefer not to receive such prompts have the option to disable the SCOOBE feature by navigating to 'Settings > System > Notifications > Additional notifications'.
