On August 12, 2025, Microsoft rolled out the Windows 11 KB5063878 update. Nevertheless, a subset of users, predominantly in Japan, reported encountering failures in their Solid State Drives (SSDs) following the installation. Addressing these concerns, Microsoft issued a statement on August 30, asserting that after thorough investigation, they have not identified any direct link between this Windows 11 security update and the reported SSD or Hard Disk Drive (HDD) failures, nor any data corruption issues. Previously, users had noted issues like disconnected storage devices and data corruption when installing the update and performing high-capacity write operations.
