The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has previously announced that the new mandatory national standard, titled "Electric Bicycle Safety Technical Specifications" (GB 17761-2024), will officially come into effect on September 1. This standard mandates that the maximum design speed of electric bicycles must not exceed 25km/h. When the speed exceeds this limit, the motor will automatically cease power output, effectively mitigating safety hazards associated with excessive speed.
