The U.S. Department of Transportation has withdrawn $679 million in federal funding, originally designated for 12 offshore wind projects, and redirected these funds towards port and infrastructure improvements. This decision marks another setback for the wind energy sector under the Trump Administration. Previously, the U.S. Department of the Interior compelled the Danish energy giant Ørsted to halt 80% of a completed wind farm off the coast of New England. Trump has unequivocally stated his opposition to new solar and wind energy initiatives, sparking fears within the industry that this stance may result in increased electricity prices.
