On August 27, the plenary session of the South Korean National Assembly approved an amendment that will prohibit primary, middle, and high school students from using mobile phones and other smart devices during class hours, effective from the new semester in March 2026. This ban is established as a general rule, with exceptions made for students with disabilities or those requiring special education, who may utilize these devices as auxiliary tools, for educational purposes, or in emergency situations.
