Earlier this month, US President Trump signed an executive order, followed by a notice from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on August 25th. The notice stated that an additional 25% ad valorem tariff would be officially imposed on Indian goods effective August 27th. This measure applies to all Indian goods imported for consumption or withdrawn from storage for the same purpose. This new tariff is on top of another 25% tariff previously imposed by Trump, bringing the total tariff rate on Indian goods exported to the US to 50%. This development has prompted numerous US customers to cancel their orders with Indian exporters.
