On Thursday, Norway's Aker ASA announced a strategic partnership with Nscale Global Holdings and OpenAI to establish a massive artificial intelligence data center in northern Norway. By the end of 2026, the ambitious project aims to install 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs, positioning it as a pivotal AI infrastructure in Europe. Leveraging the region's abundant and cost-effective hydropower resources, along with its cool climate, the data center will employ direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology for maximum efficiency. The facility will prioritize providing computing power services to local Norwegian enterprises and research institutions, fostering technological advancement and innovation within the country.
