Microsoft has announced an update to the macOS version of OneDrive, now enabling users to sync files to external hard drives. This feature addresses the challenge of limited and non-upgradable internal storage on Macs. For this functionality to work, the external hard drive must be formatted using APFS and secured with FileVault. Read-only, network, or quarantined disks are not supported. Additionally, users must have macOS 15.0 or a later version, along with OneDrive 25.097 or later. Currently, this feature is exclusive to internal beta testers and will be progressively rolled out to a wider audience.
