Alibaba has made two significant reductions in its stake in China International Capital Corporation (CICC) this year, generating a total cash inflow of HK$1.753 billion. As a result, its shareholding ratio has decreased from 10.66% to 3.83%. This strategic move aligns with Alibaba's ongoing efforts to realign its focus on core business areas. Following the appointment of its new CEO, Wu Yongming, the company has been bolstering its investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. Despite the challenges faced by CICC in 2024, the firm reported a promising recovery in the first quarter of 2025, with revenue and net profit increasing by 47.69% and 64.85%, respectively.
