On November 6, the Hang Seng Index spent the entire session in negative territory, weighed down by a sharp selloff in the three major U.S. stock indices overnight. After opening nearly 400 points lower, the index staged a brief rebound before resuming its downward drift, testing its intraday low in late trading. Tech stocks underperformed, dragging the Hang Seng Tech Index below the broader market. By the close, the Hang Seng Index was down 1.27% at 24,481.86 points, while the Tech Index fell 1.83% to 4,078.23 points. Market turnover reached HK$247.428 billion, compared with HK$356.667 billion in the previous session. Most sectors ended lower, though consumer and power stocks bucked the trend. The computing power infrastructure sector came under broad selling pressure, led by declines in storage and PCB sub-sectors. Tech stocks remained weak in the afternoon, while non-ferrous metals and innovative drug names posted notable losses. Among individual stocks, Li Ning (02331.HK) gained 5.16% and Huaneng Power International (00902.HK) added 3.41%. On the downside, Montage Technology (06809.HK) dropped 9.37%, Victory Giant Technology (02476.HK) fell 8.98%, Longsys (09976.HK) lost 8.55%, and Zhongji Innolight (03308.HK) declined 8.73%.
