OpenAI announced on Thursday that it will publicly disclose water usage and construction plans for its data centers, and will commission an independent noise study before operations begin. The company also pledged not to require public officials discussing related facilities to sign non-disclosure agreements. The announcement came two days after voters in at least 38 jurisdictions passed bills restricting or banning data center construction, prompting OpenAI to release a "National Community Compact."
