Texas Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa said existing data center projects should be paused until measures to protect the public are put in place. She is not opposed to the data center industry itself, but takes issue with current policies that allow tech giants to enjoy large tax breaks, consume water and electricity in an unregulated manner, and pass the costs on to residents. She said that, under qualifying conditions, a good working relationship can be maintained with Musk and his companies.
