November 5 News — Following the US midterm elections, Democrats secured control of both the House and Senate, reducing market policy uncertainty and driving a broad rally in tech stocks on Wednesday: Amazon climbed about 8% intraday, Google gained more than 6%, Microsoft rose over 7%, Meta added roughly 3%, and Apple advanced nearly 7%. David Kelly, Chief Global Strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management, suggests that a divided government—with Republicans holding the White House and Democrats controlling Congress—could help ease pressures on economic growth and inflation while reducing market uncertainty. Meanwhile, AI data center construction faces the risk of tighter regulation, with 40 of 41 related local referendums yielding outcomes unfavorable to data center development. Analysts, however, argue that higher regulatory barriers may actually reinforce the competitive advantages of major cloud service providers: Amazon, Microsoft, Google and others are well capitalized and have mature data center construction and operation capabilities, whereas emerging AI cloud service providers face greater pressure. On Wednesday, shares of emerging AI cloud provider Coreweave fell about 10%. Macquarie analysts contend that companies with sufficient capital, secured power supply, and project execution capabilities hold greater advantages, and that demand for AI infrastructure investment remains intact.
