Nokia released its Global Network Traffic Report on November 4, projecting that artificial intelligence will account for nearly half of global network traffic by 2035. Total global monthly traffic is expected to grow nearly fourfold, reaching approximately 3,789 exabytes. Within that total, agentic AI traffic is forecast to reach 160 times its 2026 level, while physical AI traffic is expected to grow 105-fold. The report also predicts that, driven by expanding connectivity and usage, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) will generate more than one-third of consumer cellular network traffic by 2035, further expanding the role of cellular networks in home broadband and mobile services.
