UK energy company Drax has formed a strategic partnership with Brookfield and their UK artificial intelligence infrastructure platform Radiant to construct a gigawatt-scale data center in phases at the Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire. The project is funded by the Brookfield-Qai artificial intelligence infrastructure joint venture, with total investment expected to exceed £20 billion. The first phase, valued at approximately £2.5 billion, will have a planned capacity of up to 100 megawatts and is targeted for operation in the first quarter of 2028. The second phase aims to expand capacity to 500 megawatts between 2028 and 2031.
