Google Cloud recently announced the launch of Gemini, a general-purpose intelligent agent designed specifically for enterprise work. This agent can handle a diverse range of tasks through a single interface, including question-answering, knowledge work, content creation, code writing, and execution. It can also leverage internal enterprise tools and data to autonomously achieve user goals. Gemini seamlessly integrates with Google applications such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Chat, and Calendar, and supports the creation of 'colleague agents' with independent identities and permissions. Additionally, Google has enhanced Gemini with new skills in data analysis, data engineering, and machine learning, and for the first time, introduced specialized versions for the financial services and legal industries. Gemini also has the capability to dynamically select among different models, including Google's proprietary models and Anthropic's Claude, while providing enterprise-grade control features such as permission management, auditing, sandboxing, and real-time spending limits.
