Foreign media reports, corroborated by semiconductor research firm SemiAnalysis, reveal that ByteDance occupies roughly one-fifth of China's data center capacity, thereby establishing itself as the nation's foremost data center tenant. Drawing on a comprehensive survey of 1,000 domestic data centers and 60 suppliers, SemiAnalysis highlights that China's current data center market has surpassed 24GW in capacity. Moreover, an additional 20GW is under construction, with 30GW earmarked for upcoming projects. ByteDance's data center strategy predominantly hinges on leasing arrangements, with its computational demands largely fueled by AI product ecosystems, including the Doubao Assistant and the video generation model Seedance.
