The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has unveiled the economic performance data of the communications sector for the initial eight-month period of 2026. By the close of August, the cumulative number of 5G base stations had surged to 5.195 million, marking an addition of 357,000 stations compared to the end of the preceding year. These 5G stations now constitute 39.7% of all mobile base stations, reflecting a 0.3 percentage point rise from the figure recorded in the first seven months.
