Anthropic has made an announcement that the research preview phase for the Claude Code cloud session has come to an end, and it is now officially accessible to users. As a token of appreciation, the company is extending exclusive credits to individual Pro and Max subscribers who had already registered prior to the promotion's commencement on September 23. Specifically, Pro subscribers will receive $100 in credits, while Max subscribers will be entitled to $250. These credits must be claimed by October 8 and will become invalid after November 5. They are designated solely for offsetting expenses arising from cloud sessions. During the validity period of these credits, the utilization of cloud sessions will not be deducted from the limits set by the subscription plans. The cloud session is set up as an Ubuntu remote virtual machine, boasting specifications equivalent to a 4-core CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 30GB of disk space. It enables continuous task execution in the cloud, even after the system is shut down. This feature facilitates simultaneous multitasking and allows users to transfer their cloud-based work back to their local devices at their convenience. However, it's important to note that the session does not provide unrestricted internet access. Additionally, it will be reclaimed if there is a prolonged period of inactivity. Integration is only supported with GitHub repositories. Currently, numerous users who have already availed themselves of the service have voiced concerns regarding permission control and the timely prevention of data loss during cloud operations. The industry has also observed a shift in the coding model, transitioning from human-AI collaboration to a task-assignment and acceptance framework. The crux of decision-making now revolves around determining which tasks to assign, setting appropriate permission levels, and deciding when to cease operations.
