On September 16, Nokia announced that the global rollout of AI-RAN technology is accelerating. Currently, multiple operators across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, including A1 Group, Chunghwa Telecom, and du, are advancing AI-RAN from early evaluation to laboratory testing and live network trials. The previously announced NTT DOCOMO testing project is also progressing in tandem. Nokia's AI-RAN platform integrates its AI-native anyRAN software with NVIDIA Aerial RAN Computer, enabling wireless access networks to handle both communication services and partial AI computing tasks simultaneously. Nokia stated that the platform has already achieved over 20% improvement in spectral efficiency and plans to further enhance it through software upgrades between 2027 and 2028.
