According to reports from international media on September 3, ByteDance has successfully secured a loan package totaling $29.6 billion, marking it as the second-largest U.S. dollar-denominated loan in Asia for the year 2026. Sources with direct knowledge of the deal disclosed that ByteDance originally aimed to raise $20 billion. However, owing to the enthusiastic commitments from a consortium of banks, the final loan amount was substantially increased to $29.6 billion. The loan agreement is still pending official signature, with banks in the process of finalizing their respective contributions. The proceeds from this loan will be primarily allocated for general corporate needs. Furthermore, ByteDance is contemplating a significant boost in its capital expenditures to $70 billion in 2026, representing more than a twofold increase from the 2025 levels, with a primary focus on expanding data centers and enhancing other AI-related infrastructure.
