As part of the public institution reform, South Korea will undertake a significant restructuring of state-owned energy and transportation enterprises to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Specific measures include: merging the Korea National Oil Corporation with Korea Gas Corporation; merging five subsidiaries under Korea Electric Power Corporation; liquidating the Korea Coal Corporation; and consolidating four regional port authorities.
