On September 1, Anthropic inked a monumental $35 billion computing power procurement pact with Nvidia’s Lambda entity. A portion of this computing power will be sourced from Hut 8’s Beacon Point campus, nestled in Nueces County, Texas. Hut 8 had earlier revealed that the campus boasts two 15-year leases, encompassing a staggering 704 megawatts of IT capacity, with the total contract value soaring up to $19.6 billion. Once it reaches full operational status, the campus is projected to rake in annual revenues of around $1.31 billion. Presently, Bitcoin mining firms are emerging as sought-after partners for AI companies, thanks to their edge in power infrastructure. Publicly announced mining companies have, in aggregate, inked AI and high-performance computing contracts valued at over $70 billion.
