On September 1, a coalition of 21 prominent international financial institutions, featuring heavyweights like Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, unveiled their ambitious strategy to co-found a novel entity in the latter half of 2026. This entity will be dedicated to issuing a stablecoin, fully backed by 1:1 reserves. Initially pegged to the US dollar, the stablecoin's scope will progressively broaden to encompass currencies from the G7 nations, including the euro. Anticipated to debut in the first half of 2027, this stablecoin is poised to revolutionize cross-border payments and other financial transactions, adhering strictly to the regulatory frameworks of both the United States and Europe.
