The European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) has chosen French supercomputing firm Bull to lead the construction and delivery of the LUMI-AI artificial intelligence supercomputer project. The supercomputer will be installed at a data center in Kajaani, Finland, and will be equipped with AMD processors and GPU accelerators, offering a substantial boost in computational power compared to the current LUMI system. The project is anticipated to become operational in the latter half of 2027, with a total budget of €387.8 million. The costs will be evenly split between the EuroHPC JU and the LUMI AI Factory Consortium.
