Within the realm of cloud gaming services, NVIDIA's GeForce NOW stands out for its ability to empower low-end devices to run top-tier AAA games. However, the platform strictly controls user operation rights, restricting users to running only specified games. Recently, mod creators Zortos and his collaborator dpadGuy uncovered a system loophole, enabling them to circumvent GeForce NOW's closed interface and gain access to the full Windows desktop operating on NVIDIA's cloud servers. Leveraging the game Trove as their gateway, they opened the Steam's built-in web browser during the setup process, accessed local storage directories, installed the SalsaNOW tool, and, upon launching the game, were immediately transported to a fully operational Windows desktop environment. This environment was capable of running applications like the T3 programming environment, LM Studio, and the Gemma 4 AI model. At present, this vulnerability is exclusive to paid GeForce NOW subscribers and does not extend to the free version or versions operated by third parties. Moreover, users may encounter challenges such as session time constraints, limited download capabilities, and disruptions caused by closing the explorer.
