Recently, the 2026 Academic Conference on Innovation and Prospects in Information and Communications Technology was successfully convened in Wuhan. During the event, the China Institute of Communications announced the 2025 Top Ten Technological Advances in the Information and Communications Field. Among these, the project titled "Key Technologies for Synesthetic Mechanisms and Intelligent Fusion of Communication and Multimodal Perception," led by Professor Cheng Xiang and his team from Peking University’s School of Electronics, stood out as a notable selection. This project has successfully realized the intelligent integration of communication and multimodal perception by establishing a machine synesthesia framework, thereby offering a fresh approach to the advancement of networked intelligence in the 6G era.
