The European Commission has put forth a recommendation for member states to exclude equipment from Huawei and ZTE when constructing telecommunications networks, asserting that this step is intended to ensure network security. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Chinese companies have been conducting business legally and in full compliance with European regulations for an extended period. It further argued that the European Commission's move lacks a legal foundation and factual evidence, constituting a serious breach of market principles and fair competition rules. Within the EU, opinions on this matter are divided. The majority of member states are reluctant to forgo cost-effective Chinese equipment, as a complete ban would lead to substantial economic losses and hinder the timely deployment of 5G technology.
