Microsoft is making significant adjustments to the update mechanism of Windows 11, granting users more control. During the initial system setup, users can choose to skip updates; updates can be paused for any length of time; and when updates are pending installation, users can still opt to shut down or restart separately without immediately applying the updates. These changes have started rolling out to Windows Insider testers, including Build 26220.8282 in the Beta channel and Build 26300.8289 in the Canary and Dev channels.
