On April 22, 2026, Huawei, in collaboration with Nigerian telecommunications operator MTN, achieved a groundbreaking milestone by completing the world’s first commercial deployment of a Sub-1GHz Massive MIMO site in Abuja. This innovative solution delivered remarkable results: a 104% spike in low-frequency LTE data traffic, a 28% enhancement in downlink user experience, and an 8% reduction in Physical Resource Block (PRB) utilization. These improvements not only mark a significant leap in network capacity but also substantially elevate the quality of the 4G user experience. Concurrently, MTN successfully launched the world’s first full-band Massive MIMO site, positioning itself at the forefront of the industry as it transitions into the new era of "All Bands to Massive MIMO."
