The American fuel cell enterprise, Bloom Energy, has declared an expansion of its partnership with Oracle. Oracle is poised to acquire 2.8 gigawatts (GW) of Bloom Energy's (BE) fuel cell systems to bolster the development of its artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing infrastructure. In the wake of this announcement, BE's stock price witnessed a dramatic surge of over 15% during pre-market trading, achieving an all-time high. Meanwhile, Oracle's stock price also experienced a notable uptick of up to 5% prior to the market's opening bell.

At present, both parties have inked an initial procurement contract for a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts, with deployment operations already in progress and slated to extend into the following year. Bloom's fuel cells are set to furnish power support for Oracle's ventures across the United States. This expanded collaboration underscores Bloom's proficiency in delivering power solutions tailored to AI workloads, with its systems meticulously engineered to efficiently sustain high-density AI operations.

The agreement, which builds upon the existing synergy between the two entities, mirrors the burgeoning trend of distributed on-site power generation emerging as a pivotal component of contemporary digital infrastructure. Bloom's modular fuel cell systems boast a significantly accelerated deployment timeline compared to traditional alternatives, as exemplified by last year's installation for Oracle, which was finalized months ahead of the projected schedule.
