The short-video platform TikTok has announced its intention to invest an extra €1 billion in Finland for the construction of a second data center, thereby expediting the localized storage of European user data. This decision marks a significant strategic deployment by ByteDance, following the compliance modifications it made in January of this year to circumvent U.S. prohibitions. Moreover, it serves as a response to the regulatory pressures in Europe, especially the mandate to shield minors from the influence of 'addictive algorithms'.
