On January 20, 2026, the Alibaba Cloud PolarDB Developer Conference took place, during which its cloud-native database, PolarDB, introduced a host of new offerings. Among these was the AI Data Lakehouse (Lakebase). The AI Data Lakehouse is meticulously crafted to achieve a 'lakehouse integration' architecture. This innovative setup seamlessly blends the versatility of a data lake with the robust performance of a data warehouse, offering crucial backing for enterprises as they establish intelligent data management platforms. In addition to this, PolarDB delineated the four fundamental pillars of an 'AI-Ready Database.' These encompass a multimodal AI data lakehouse, efficient integrated search functionalities, model operator services, and backend services tailored for Agent application development. At present, PolarDB boasts a user base exceeding 20,000, with a deployment scale that surpasses 3 million cores. Its reach extends across 86 availability zones worldwide.
