As we step into the "Age of Computing Power," the functions of networks keep expanding. Reporters have learned from the National Digital Switching System Engineering & Technological Research Center that a research team, jointly established by the center along with China Mobile, China Unicom, and other partners, has accomplished dual breakthroughs in the efficiency and reliability of computing and networking resource scheduling. This was achieved through the "multi-modal in-path computing" model.

Drawing on an integrated computing and networking orchestration system, this model dissects complex computing tasks into smaller, manageable segments. These segments are then distributed across various network nodes, allowing partial computations to be carried out during data transmission. Consequently, the network has evolved from being a mere data transmission channel to an intelligent system. Tests conducted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology reveal that the system has slashed the response time for computing task scheduling from several seconds down to a mere 5 milliseconds, boasting an accuracy rate of over 99%.
