On December 1, several netizens, who were verified as Lenovo employees, disclosed that the entire workforce of Lenovo's Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) in Shanghai had been laid off. The meeting to communicate the layoffs was notably brief, lasting only 15 minutes, and it commenced 13 minutes behind schedule. After a mere two-minute recording was played, the layoff decision was announced, impacting hundreds of employees across Shanghai, with pregnant women among those affected. Furthermore, it was reported that the software, firmware, and operating system (OS) teams within the China region were entirely laid off across multiple locations, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Shenzhen. Sina Technology reached out to Lenovo for confirmation; however, as of the publication time of this report, no response had been received from the company.
